Child visitation refers to the amount of time that a non-custodial parent spends with the child pursuant to a schedule which is made a part of a court judgment or as agreed and stipulated by both custodial and non-custodial parent and entered into by the court.   Child visitation also provides non-custodial parent access to the child via telephone, email, etc. when the child is not in his or her custody.   Child visitation schedules typically vary based on the needs of the child. In most cases, visitation may consist of overnight stays every other weekend, alternating holidays, one-day or two-days per week,  or in some cases, extended stays during the holidays, summer vacations, birthdays and other events.
